UNTITLED flash series ii
I arrived in Alaska with a vision shaped by conventional landscape photography—seeking scenes saturated in color, perfectly composed for a digital audience. However, immersion in the wild terrain reframed my approach, prompting a shift from aesthetic idealization to a study of nature’s overlooked details. Adopting flash photography in the manner of forensic documentation, I sought to reveal the granular textures of decomposition, capturing a raw and unembellished narrative of environmental decay. Each image, taken with stark illumination, transforms the organic process of putrefaction into a visual exploration of life’s transitory stages, challenging romanticized perceptions of the natural world.
